What We Do

God has given us several avenues in which to serve Him here in Japan, and we are thankful for each area of service He entrusts us with.

Akigawa Baptist Church has been our main area of service here in Japan. We are excited to see how God continues to work in bringing people into His family, and how our brothers and sisters in Christ continue to thrive and grow in learning about, loving, and living for God.

Our church’s vision and purpose is based on the two great commands given by Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39, “To love God with our heart, soul, and mind; and to love others as ourselves.” This is displayed in our desire to know Jesus and to obey Him, in our active faith and trust in our Heavenly Father, in our commitment to love our family in Christ, both in our church and abroad, and in our love for the lost around us by being a faithful witness to them, as well as faithfully supporting those who witness to the lost away from us.

Christian Home School Group

We teamed up with missionaries Jim and Amy Smith to launch our Christian school in August of 2015 with 13 students. We’re still in our first year, but we are thankful to already see the spiritual growth in the children with which we are entrusted.  The spirit of the school is great, the students are enjoying their new school, and the teachers (Bethany and Amy) are fantastic 🙂 . We have been amazed to see how God miraculously opened so many doors, and helped us to overcome the different obstacles that faced us in the launching of the school, and we are looking forward to seeing what He plans on doing through the lives of the students that He put in our care.
